A Theme “Quality Concepts for Cultural Breakthrough” Came in Reality at National Convention on Quality Concepts, NCQC 2019 at IIT BHU Varanasi

National Convention of Quality Concepts organized by Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI) always has its importance in the field of quality. The quality improvement project base on quality circle, 5S, Kaizen, Poka Yoke results in huge amount of cost saving in the organization.

1645 + team had participated in NCQC 2019 and if we convert saving through these projects, it will be around 1500 Corers (Approx.).This saving, in its own, shows the significance of such convention at national level.

Indian Institute of Technology (BHU)

Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) Varanasi IIT (BHU) Varanasi) is a public engineering and research institution located in Varanasi, founded in 1919 as the Banaras Engineering College. Banaras Hindu Unviersity (BHU) is a premier institution founded by the great visionary, Bharat Ratna Pandit. Madan Mohan Malviya Ji in 1919.

It became the Institute of Technology (BHU) in 1968 by the amalgamation of BENCO, MINMET and TECHNO the original three colleges established by Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya Ji for engineering education in India in 1919. In 1968, BENCO, TECHNO and MINMET were merged into one and the Institute of Technology (ITBHU) was established integrating the all engineering departments.

IIT (BHU) is an Institute of national importance created by an Act of the Parliament through the Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2012 vide Gazette Notification dated 29.06.2012.

BHU has the credit of first starting degree classes in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Metallurgy and Pharmaceutics. IIT (BHU) Varanasi has 15 departments and 3 inter-disciplinary schools.

ABOUT THE EVENT:

NCQC-2019 is an annual event organized by Quality Circle Forum of India JOINTLY with IIT(BHU) Varanasi with active involvement of QCFI Varanasi Chapter as host.

Case study presentation on Quality concepts, QC, Kaizen, 5S and LQC are part of convention with competition on essay writing, poster poem, model and slogan.

OPENING CERIMONY:

The Chief Guest of the convention was Prof. Pramod Kumar Jain, Director, IIT(BHU) and the Guest of Honour was Mr. V.K. Panjiar, DRM, NE-Railway, Varanasi.

NCQC-2019 starts with march-past by the active involvement of school children

ShankhNaad (शंखनाद– Conch shell ) by Yogi Shri Ram Janam Yadav Ji in opening Ceremony. The speciality is ShankhNaad carried out for One Min continuously.

Along with the oral case study presentations, there were 11 Kaizen Display, 8 Home Kaizen and 99 out of 148 registered Model Displays presented at NCQC 2019. 126 teams participated in the first level Quiz out of which 10 teams were selected for final Quiz a team from Godrej Consumer Products, Malanpur winning the final Trophy.

SKIT COMPETITION

Also, skit competition organized and well-staged by the participant with enthusiasm and spread the message of importance and benefits of Quality Circle and Quality Concepts.

GLIMPSES OF MODEL COMPETITION

In model competition, various models are presented a total from 99 from various industries and organizations.

ABOUT CASE STUDY PRESENTATION:

Total 1645+ teams from different organization from pan India presented the case study at different 80 halls. All the team presented case study in well descent manner by following the 12 steps of problem solving methodology use in Quality Circle with use of quality tools such as Milestone / Gantt chart, PDCA, Flow Diagram, Brainstorming Graphs, Cause & Effect Diagram, Pareto Chart etc.

With case study presentation participant explain the work done with the help of model, which was made perfectly as per what achievement carried out in actual at respective plant / department in industries and organization. The benefit of such model helps to get the first hand idea of what improvement carried out and how it works.

The most important benefit of making model with case study presentation is, same practice / modification can be applied at in other organization, which is nothing but lesson learnt and horizontal deployment.

CASE STUDY on “Pomegranate farming”

Mr. Bharat Vitthal Pawar and Mr. Daulat Vittal Pawar, farmer who thought of doing farming with use of QC TOOLS, that is thinking beyond tradition of Pomegranate farming with idea to improve yield and production.

They presented case study on “Pomegranate farming” and their Quality Circle name is Baliraja, Mr.Sanjay Vaidya ,of QCFI Aurangabad chapter help them in this real world project.
